Meet the Mountains—Your Guide to Our January VC Stops
January might be the coldest month of the year, but for the VC, it’s also the warmest. It’s where our season starts rolling, where we meet new families, reconnect with old friends, and bring the festival village to some of our favorite mountains.
If you’re planning your first VC adventure—or your fourth—here’s a friendly tour through the January stops that kick off our 2026 season.
BigRock Mountain—January 3, 2026

There are few places where a community rallies behind winter quite like Aroostook County. BigRock has this unmistakable “everyone knows everyone” warmth. Kids line up excitedly, parents chat with strangers like old friends, and the village comes alive with Northern Maine spirit.
If you want your season to begin with a high-energy, big-smiles kickoff, start here.
Lost Valley—January 10, 2026
Small mountain, giant heart. Lost Valley is known for being incredibly welcoming to beginners. If this is your family’s first-ever VC, you will absolutely feel at home. The course sits right where parents can cheer loudly (trust us—they do), and the village offers nonstop fun.
Bring your camera. Bring your cheering voice.
Saddleback—January 11, 2026
There is nothing quite like a blue-sky day at Saddleback. The mountain feels expansive yet family-friendly, and the views… well, they’re unforgettable. The VC course here is both scenic and confidence-building, making it perfect for kids who want to try something new without feeling overwhelmed.
Black Mountain, ME—January 18, 2026
This stop feels like a family reunion—even for families who’ve never been here before. A two-day event means double the cheering, double the dancing, and double the opportunities for joyful memories.
Tenney Mountain—January 19, 2026
A welcoming, hidden gem full of character. Tenney is ideal for first-timers who want a cozy, friendly, low-pressure experience. Parents love how easy it is to move between the village and the course.
Ski Butternut—January 24, 2026
Butternut transforms an ordinary Saturday into a festival. From the cheering crowds to the lively base area, this stop bursts with energy. Kids adore it. Parents adore it. Crew members usually lose their voices cheering here.
Jiminy Peak—January 25, 2026
Jiminy is a mountain that sparkles—literally and emotionally. The base area buzzes, kids radiate confidence, and the cheering seems to spread like a joyful ripple.
Catamount—January 31, 2026
Catamount is the exclamation point of January. The terrain is accessible, the cheering is loud, and the village layout is perfect for families who love to bounce between fun and skiing.
How to Choose the Right Stop
Here’s the truth: you can’t choose wrong.
