The VC & Its Community Charities
At the Vertical Challenge, our mission goes beyond racing down the slopes. While winter fitness, friendly competition, and quality family time are at the core of our events, we’re also dedicated to lifting up children and families who need extra support. Our crew works to mentor kids, build self-worth, and extend the positive impact of our tour into the community.
That’s why we proudly partner with Make-A-Wish® and Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports.

Make-A-Wish®
Families facing critical illnesses deserve hope, joy, and strength. Research shows that when a child’s wish is granted, it gives them the emotional and physical resilience they need to fight their illness—leading to better health outcomes and a brighter outlook.
We support several regional Make-A-Wish chapters, including:
- Maine
- New Hampshire
- Pennsylvania & West Virginia
- Massachusetts & Rhode Island
For us, this partnership is a natural fit. The Vertical Challenge is about creating memorable, empowering experiences—and Make-A-Wish does exactly that for children who need it most.
Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports
Vermont Adaptive is a nationally recognized nonprofit that provides inclusive sports and recreation for people of all abilities, regardless of their ability to pay. Their dedicated volunteers empower individuals with cognitive, developmental, physical, and emotional disabilities through skiing, snowboarding, and countless other activities.
The Vertical Challenge has always offered adaptive racing categories, and in recent years we’ve expanded them to welcome even more athletes. With the support of our VC families, we hope to help Vermont Adaptive continue opening doors to sports and confidence-building experiences.
Our Fundraisers
Charity Raffle
At every VC event, we host a Charity Raffle with prizes generously donated by our sponsors. 100% of the proceeds go directly to one of our nonprofit partners. Families can buy raffle tickets throughout the day, and winners are drawn at the awards ceremony.

Kids Helping Kids
We believe in teaching kids the value of giving back. That’s why we encourage our young racers to organize fundraisers at school or in their communities. Every year at the VC Finals, we recognize these amazing efforts on stage. It’s a program we call “Kids Helping Kids”—because even the smallest racers can make a big difference.
